Intensive Preparatory Course for the BA Entrance Exam

An 8-week intensive classroom preparatory course between 8 April - 31 May 2024

For those who seek to apply to our BA in General Music Studies with Kodály Emphasis programme which starts in September 2024.
This new preparatory programme is offered for students who would like to further improve their skills and knowledge in the field of musicianship, music history, choral singing and piano, focusing on the requirements of the BA entrance exam. 

The number of students is limited and subject to prior audition.

Participation in this preparatory course does not guarantee automatic admission to the Institute's BA degree programme, the BA in General Music Studies with Kodály Emphasis. Applications for the BA programme must be submitted separately until the deadline of 31 March 2024. BA entrance exam will be held online on 3-5 June, 2024. 


Course Content:

The programme includes subjects that prepare students for the challenges of the entrance exam of the BA degree course:

  • 5 classes of musicianship / week
  • choral singing practice 
  • weekly group singing lessons
  • a 30-min class of individual piano / week focusing on the skills required for musicianship
  • History of Western Music and Culture
  • optional (for extra fee): Intensive English - general English skills with specific musical terminology*


Tuition fee: 600000 HUF incl. 27% VAT 
(to be paid after receiving the individual letter of acceptance)

Additional fees may be charged for these optional administrative services:

  • visa process
  • pre-arrival guidance and on-going advising in accommodation and lodging
  • transfer to Kecskemét
  • orientation: special programmes to help students understand, acclimate, and adapt to their new surroundings


Pre-requisites and requirements:

  • Applicant must be over 18 years old.
  • Professional CV, motivation letter, and maturity or equivalent school certificate (copy of the highest school certificate translated into English) must be attached.
  • Basic piano and musicianship studies.
  • The language of the course is ENGLISH; therefore, applicants must have a good command of spoken and written English.*
  • Participation in the online audition where we assess the applicant's musical and vocal skills and piano knowledge. Therefore, all applicants must prepare a piano piece appropriate to their level, a folk song to be sung in their mother language and may also be asked to do some solfege exercises.

Online auditions will take place between 16-22 February 2024.

Until 23 February all the applicants will be informed about the result.

*Please note: when applying for the BA degree programme, non-native English speakers must submit proof of English proficiency. As a guide, we expect a level similar to TOEFL (=Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a score of 72-83 (Internet-Based), or 200-220 (Computer-Based), or 533-560 (Paper-Based) or an equivalent of this exam (e.g. IELTS Band 6.5-7 or higher).
