Conference about the Practice of Music Theory Teaching
SENTIAMOCI DI PARMA is the title of the annual conference on the practice of music theory teaching organised by the Conservatorio di Musica “Arrigo Boito” in Parma, Italy. The presenters at the conference are all selected by the organisers of the conference but participation is open to all professionals working in related fields, students and the general public as well. Most of the participants are music theory teachers working in higher music education.
Marialuce Monari, director of the opera chorus in Bologna, and teacher of music theory at the Conservatorio di Musica “Arrigo Boito” visited the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and the Kodály Institute last year. Following her visit of many different classes she invited László Norbert Nemes to the conference where he successfully demonstrated the Hungarian practice of singing-based ear training.
Further presenters at the conference in January 2018 included René Eespere - Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia(Tallinn), Sofia Martinez Villar - Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona), Adrian Mears - Musik-Akademie (Basel), Alberto Odone - Conservatorio “G. Verdi” (Milánó), Ruta Paidere - Hochschule für Music und Theater (Hamburg). The majority of the participants were Italian musicians, but the conference was well attended by international delegates including professors and students of the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark.
