OAKE Lifetime Achievement Award to Péter Erdei

25 March 2019

At the OAKE Conference in Columbus, Ohio, USA, last week, it was announced that Péter Erdei was awarded with the OAKE Lifetime Achievement Award.

The OAKE Lifetime Achievement Award is given to the rare person whose impact upon Kodály music education transcends that of what might be considered an outstanding educator, administrator, or researcher. This person has made such an extensive, far-reaching impact that, over time, his or her influence has left an indelible mark upon the state of American Kodály music education.

Professor Erdei was co-founder of the Kodály Musical Training Institute, Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA. As the founding director of the Kecskemét Kodály Institute he established a long-lasting and fruitful cooperation between the Kodály Center of America, Wellesley and the Institute. He has been regularly invited to give masterclasses all over the States.

At the OAKE Conference in Columbus, between 21-24 March, 2019, he conducted the National Chamber Ensemble.
