Sebastian Heindl (organ)
Only a few of Johann Sebastian Bach’s works were printed during his lifetime: these included the four-part Clavier-Übung, the third part of which was written between 1735 and 1736 and published in 1739. It begins and ends with a musically related prelude and fugue, with 21 chorale preludes (from two to six voices) and 4 duets (two voices). The collection contains Bach’s most musically complex and technically demanding organ works. The series is also stylistically extremely diverse, featuring all the possible styles and idioms of the period, old and new, local and international. The collection is also an ideal concert programme, given that the series is based in part on the most succesful pieces of Bach’s own organ concerts. The ‘Great Lutheran Organ Mass’ by the former teacher of St. Thomas School, Leipzig will be performed by the organist Sebastian Heindl, a former student of the school.
