The Liszt Academy is an iconic venue for a classical music concert, with 7:00 p.m. being the traditional start time. Our new concert series aims to attract a new audience by altering just one element of this classic trio – offering performances in the afternoon instead. This time slot appeals to those seeking familiar musical experiences on weekend afternoons and provides an opportunity for both younger and older generations to engage with classical music, while also serving as an excellent platform for young talents of the Liszt Academy to introduce themselves. At this first afternoon concert, the Wanderer Quartet – formed in September 2023 by students of the university – will take the stage. Their program features rarely heard string quartets by Dvořák, as well as well-known works and selected movements by Schubert. Interestingly, all four musicians completed their studies at the same time, with their diploma concerts held in spring 2024.
