The Director of the Kodály Institute László Nemes and Cristina Brito da Cruz, Professor of Music Education, Director of Centro Kodály de Portugal ran a 2-day Kodály-concept training in Praia, Cape Verde. 

On April 6 H.E.Mr. Park Chulmin, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Hungary, visited the Institute.

The Kodály Museum, together with the Liszt Museum, became part of a 40-member European association of musicians’ and composers’ memorial museums, with the founding document of the agreement signed in France on 3 April.

AKA (Red), Chamber Choir of the Institute - together with the Singing Circle of Kecskemét conducted by Péter Erdei and the Aurin Girls' Choir conducted by László Durányik - performed successfully at the concert entitled “Da pacem, Domine” - Wish for Peace in the Lutheran Church on March 26 as part of the Kecskemét Spring Festival.

The achievements and professional work of the past three years of the Mercedes-Benz Basketball Academy were praised and celebrated on Saturday night at the ballroom of the Four Points by Sheraton, Kecskemét. It is our pleasure to announce that the 31st International Kodály Seminar will take place in Kecskemét from July 18th till July 29th this summer.

Several professors of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music received prestigious state awards on the occasion of the national holiday on March 15. Composer Máté Balogh, an assistant professor at the University and a lecturer at our Institute, received the Ferenc Erkel Award for his outstanding work as a composer and music director.

In 2021, Anita Nagy, Director of the Liszt Institute, Hungarian Cultural Centre in Tokyo organised series of online lectures in Hungarian around the introduction of early childhood art education in Hungary and Japan by prominent educators Katalin Forrai, Mária Vida Székácsné and Hani Kyōko. 

The Foundation for the Kecskemét Kodály Institute is pleased to announce the following scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Five-hundred-year-old coins, a residential house from the Árpád Era and the ground floor of a tower in the former centre of medieval Kecskemét were unearthed during the excavation prior to the renovation of the Kodály Institute, archaeologist András Kristóf Fazekas, employee of the József Katona Museum in Kecskemét told MTI.

On 16 December, students of the Institute walked to the Kecskemét Railway Station and laid a wreath there to commemorate the 139th anniversary of Zoltán Kodály's birth.

Recently, with the participation of Erzsébet Szőnyi's grandchildren, Edit Alma Gémes and Ákos Tamás Gémes, and the director of the Institute, Dr. László Norbert Nemes, documents from Mrs Szőnyi’s legacy were officially handed over to the Archives of the Institute and the contract was signed.

The investment under the Modern Cities Program has been approved by a government decision recently.

During the course of the last two years, several outstanding faculty members stepped down from their positions as professors or research scholars at the Kodály Institute. 

By the beginning of September 2021, most of our students, who decided to come to Hungary despite all the challenges and difficulties posed by the pandemic, arrived in Kecskemét.

The Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music has launched a thoroughly revised and restructured English-language edition of Pál Kardos’s unique book on choral intonation.

The latest publication of the Kodály Institute is a much-needed, long-awaited project by a former professor of our Institute, the internationally renowned Lilla Gábor. “Kodály’s Principles in the Perspective of the 21st Century – Based on Zoltán Kodály’s Writings and Speeches” is aimed for all those who wish to delve into the authentic sources: the complexity of Kodály’s vision in his own words.

The Kodály Institute held its Closing Ceremony of the Academic Year 2020-2021 on 28 May in the ceremonial hall of the Calvinist Old College and online. Due to the current COVID situation, only 20 people could attend personally, the rest could follow the ceremony via Zoom.
