Events in December 2013

The Christmas season events of the Kodály Institute were started by the charity concert of the New Liszt Ferenc Chamber Choir (conductor: Péter Erdei, Liszt Prize awardee, merited artist) on 1 December, Advent Sunday in the Concert Hall of the Calvinist College in Kecskemét.

International Evening

The students of the Institute organised this year’s International Evening on 30 November. The programme was much more interactive than in the previous years, with (just to name a few activities) Australian Aborigine-style painting, origami, poems, short dramatic scenes and a Canadian quiz game included among the usual, quality folk music performances and folk dance teachings.

President of Longy School visits the Institute

Karen Zorn, President of Longy School of Music of Bard College from Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA visited the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét on 23 November, 2013 and discussed fields of a possible future cooperation between the institutions with László Norbert Nemes, director. 


Publications of the Klára Kokas Foundation on sale

On 29 and 30 November, 2013 the Foundation's publications are available with 30-50% discounts in the office of the foundation (1113 Budapest, Bocskai út 77-79., building B, room 349). 


Denise Bacon obituary

It is with great sadness that faculty and staff members of the Kodály Institute learnt about the death of Denise Bacon, founder and director of the Kodály Musical Training Institute and the Kodály Center of America. Denise Bacon was a pioneer figure, who played a significant role in making Kodály’s music educational principles widely known and adapted into practice throughout the United States. She will be sadly missed by her colleagues all over the world. 

International Summer School 2014

With our internationally acclaimed faculty members and artists-in-residence, the Kodály Institute announces its 1st International Summer School with the following courses between 18 July and 1 August, 2014:


Liszt Academy of Music Grand Hall reopened

The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music celebrated the refurbishment of its magnificent main hall by a grand opening gala on 22 October, the birthday anniversary of its founder, Ferenc Liszt.
From now on, this significant centre of classical music famous among others for its tremendous acoustics will be there for concert-goers and students of the Academy alike.
