It is with great pleasure that the Foundation for the Kodály Institute announces the recipients of the Bacon-Erdei Scholarship 2016.


"Culture through Music"

In 2015 the Kodály Institute participated in an exciting project entitled “Culture through Music” together with partners from Romania and Iceland.

Scholarships for the 2016-2017 Academic Year

The Foundation for the Kodály Institute is pleased to announce the following scholarships:

  • Sarolta Kodály Scholarship – donated by Mrs. Zoltán Kodály 
  • application deadline is 15 May, 2016
  • Bacon-Erdei Scholarship  post-master scholarship offered by the Foundation
    application deadline is 31 March, 2016
  • Éva Vendrei Memorial Scholarship – provided by the Foundation


Kodály Summer School 2016

With its internationally acclaimed faculty members and artists-in-residence, the Kodály Institute announces its 2nd International Summer School with the following courses between 18-29 July, 2016:

  • Course in Kodály-based Music Pedagogy
  • "ZeneZen" - Specialization in Piano Performance
  • Choral Academy for Choral Conductors
  • Voice and Vocal Pedagogy Master Class
  • Colourstrings Course

Application deadline is 15 April 2016.


2016-2017 Academic Year Information

Undergraduate Course: BA in General Music Studies with Kodály Emphasis
Graduate Course: MA in Kodály Music Pedagogy
Application deadline: 15 February for studies commencing in September.

Compositions of Leanne Bear – In memoriam Jean Sibelius and Béla Bartók

The students and a teacher of the Kodály Institute and two Hungarian guest performers gave a concert featuring the compositions of violinist and composer Leanne Bear (Australia) on the 13th of November, 2015.

Kodály Prize for Ars Nova

Dr Katalin Kiss, associate professor of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and her choir, the Ars Nova Vocal Ensemble, as an acknowledgement of their high standards of performance and successful artistic activity over the past 25 years, received the Kodály Prize that was handed out at the Day of the City ceremonial event in the Kecskemét Katona József Theatre on October 2, 2015.


40th & 20th Anniversary Events

Korean Kodály Festival

The first prize of the competition will receive a 1-year full scholarship for study in the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét. 

You can also participate only in the seminar and concert, without taking part in the competition. 



Summer opening hours of the Library

1-22 June 2015: from Monday to Friday from 8 to 12
24-28 June 2015: CLOSED

In July the Library and Archives is open for participants of the Institute's summer courses and the International Kodály Seminar according to the timetables of these courses. Others can visit the Library and Archives by appointments only. 
2-23 August 2015: CLOSED
24 August - 6 September 2015: from Monday to Friday from 8 to 12 
From 7 September 2015 the opening hours are adjusted to the timetable of the Institute.
